Scope and limits
Local mime-db 1.54.0 snapshot (2,522 records). Extension mappings, browser-declared types and 14 header patterns are separate evidence. Unknown signatures remain unknown. Header matches do not validate files or establish safety; Office/ZIP contents are not inspected. No file upload.

MIME Type Finder
Look up MIME records from the bundled mime-db 1.54.0 snapshot by MIME type, extension or file name. In file mode, read a local file’s declared browser type and the first 16 bytes to compare known signatures, then show matching extension records. Signature detection is prefix-based and the report is not proof that a file is complete or safe.
Features
- Search the bundled MIME database by type, extension or file name.
- Read a local file’s declared MIME type without uploading it.
- Compare the first 16 bytes with known PNG, JPEG, PDF, ZIP and other signatures.
- Export the lookup or inspection report as JSON.
How to use
- Choose database lookup or local file inspection.
- Enter a MIME type, extension or file name, or select a file.
- Run the lookup and compare declared, signature and extension results.
- Copy or download the report and validate the file in its real processing context.
