JSON Formatter

Use this JSON formatter to read an API response, inspect a configuration file or compare two versions of a document. Formatting adds indentation; minifying removes unnecessary whitespace. Neither operation is a substitute for checking whether the data contains the values your application expects.

In Tree & analysis, expand objects and arrays, search for a value and inspect the selected branch. Use Schema with your own JSON Schema, Compare for two documents or Query to extract nested values. Each document is limited to 1 MB of UTF-8 data, 128 nesting levels and 50,000 values.

Features

  • Format or minify JSON with indentation and key-sorting options.
  • Search nested data in the tree and inspect a selected branch.
  • Compare two JSON documents or check data against a supplied schema.
  • Copy or download the result without executing the JSON as code.

How to use

  1. Paste JSON or upload a JSON file. For example, {"name":"Ada","active":true} is a valid object.
  2. Choose Format and an indentation size; fix any reported syntax errors before continuing.
  3. Open Tree & analysis to inspect fields, or choose Compare, Schema or Query for that task.
  4. Review the result, then copy it or download the JSON file.
