Scope and limits
Encode HTML-sensitive characters or printable Unicode code points. Decode one pass using HTML character-reference rules; tags remain text. Encoding excludes NUL, unpaired surrogates and C1 controls to avoid character changes. This is text conversion, not HTML sanitization.

HTML Entity Encoder & Decoder
Convert text locally between literal characters and HTML character references. Encode ampersands, angle brackets, quotes and apostrophes as special references, or encode supported Unicode code points as decimal or hexadecimal references; decode references with a single pass. Input is limited to 100,000 characters and unsupported control or surrogate code points are rejected. This is an encoder/decoder, not an HTML sanitizer or parser.
Features
- Encode special HTML characters with named or numeric references.
- Choose decimal or hexadecimal output for supported Unicode characters.
- Decode character references once while keeping literal tags as text.
- Process up to 100,000 characters locally and copy the result.
How to use
- Paste the text to convert.
- Choose encode or decode and select special, decimal or hexadecimal output when encoding.
- Run the conversion and review the exact references or decoded text.
- Copy the result into the context where it will be used and validate that context separately.
